Bag of Tricks

This is a brief summary of my work.

Writer, Author, Communicator

I leverage my learning experience design (LXD) and customer education background to write content that educates, entertains, and informs. I write on the following subjects: Learning, customer education, human capital management, enterprise software adoption, service delivery, and customer success.

Content Marketing

Content Marketing Strategy - that zeros in on your target audience and drives profitable customer behavior.

Editorial Calendar - that provides you the guidance to stay on message, instead of reacting to every little whim of your marketing team.

Content Development Workflow - that speeds up content development so you can ship more content.

Building a Learning Organization

Learning Strategy Development - Create a strategy aligned to business goals so your team can build the capabilities your organization needs to be competitive and grow.

Build a Team - I have built high-performing teams, in high-growth companies that include Inc 500, Deloitte Fast 50, and Forbes Most Promising Companies in America.

Instructional Design (Learning Experience Design - What I call, LXD) - Process to developing content that is focused on business results.

Deliver Training in Fast-growing, Uncertain Environment - Create a scalable model so you can keep up with the speed of your business whether you are hiring 30 people per week or expanding into new offices.

Needs Assessment - If you know your people need new or different skills in order to meet the needs of your business and your customers in the future but do not know what skills those are, I can help by conducting a thorough needs assessment that focuses on what skills and competencies people need to achieve specific organization goals and objectives that you define.

Evaluate Training Effectiveness - Measuring the success of training programs is not that difficult if you focus on measuring those initiatives that are targeted at key business drivers of revenue, cost, cash flow, margins, and customer metrics. Measuring anything else, is just activity.

Speaking Engagements

My speaking engagements have included: Devlearn 2010, the California Society of Association Executives (CalSAE) Elevate 2011 Conference (slides) and at an ASTD Sacramento Chapter meeting in May 2011. I appeared as a guest on #elearnchat with Rick Zanotti and Terrence Wing. View the interview here. I appeared as a guest speaker on a webinar conducted at the USC Center for Effective Organizations.

Personal Philosophy...in Progress

I am in a long-term process of developing a personal philosophy called "Learn Forever." This philosophy is the foundation for how I live my personal and professional life, how I try to raise my children, and how I build teams, programs and a learning culture in organizations. This "Learn Forever" philosophy guides my decisions and actions.
